Why We Loved The Croods in 3D {Review}

Last weekend my family had the privilege of enjoying an advanced screening of the new Dreamworks family film that opens this weekend, The Croods. Here’s the bottom line review: we all LOVED it!

I really wasn’t sure what to expect of the Croods at all, but I have high expectations for Dreamworks films and it did not disappoint. The animation is simply gorgeous through. Creativity overflows through all the pre-evolutionary plants and animals.

But the best part are the values and messages the film actively seeks to convey. The importance of the family unit is the first and most key value that comes through in The Croods. They work as a team, the protect each other, their very survival has depended on it. Even despite major flaws, family members are loved and protected.

Another major theme in The Croods is the value of new ideas and that change is something to be embraced rather than feared. The strong plot delivers this message solidly and convincingly. The whole screenplay is brilliant, in my opinion.

But don’t just take my opinion, ask my kids! They don’t care about the animation or the values, they just care whether or not it makes them laugh. It certainly did!

On a side note, I believe this was the first major motion picture I’ve seen in 3D. I loved it! Right from the beginning I felt like I could reach out and grab things. I will definitely pay the extra money to see things in 3D in the future.

So I highly recommend taking your family to see The Croods. The End.
