Our Orphan Sunday Video

Yes, today is election day in our great nation. We’ve been waiting a long time for this. I, for one, cannot  wait till it’s over. Regardless of who wins, I can’t wait to get back to some semblance of normal conversation among friends, especially in social media.

But today I don’t want to talk about the election. I want to share with you our awesome video that my friend John Cordes shot for our Orphan Sunday celebration this past weekend. I have been thinking about and planning for this past Sunday for a long time.

Please watch. I’m so proud to call these people MY people, my friends, my brothers and sisters, my tribe. You’ll see my family included as well.

Orphan Sunday is an international event, started a few years ago by a little church in Zambia. Now it is celebrated by thousands of churches across the US and the world each November in order to bring attention to the global orphan crisis, and once again challenge Christians to answer the call.

The Bible could not be more clear on this…every believer is commanded by God to care for the fatherless. For some that looks like adoption. For others it means other forms of support.

How are you caring for orphans? You don’t have to answer here, but if you love Jesus you have to ask yourself the question.
