Time for another fashion haul video! This month there were bargains galore, so I finished up getting my kids’ fall/winter wardrobes and found a few new pieces for myself as well. My whole family hit up the Houston Premium Outlets (identical to Philadelphia Premium Outlet center in Limerick!) and I finally got a chance to actually try things on in the Ann Taylor Factory Outlet Store. Also I live smack in between not one, but TWO LOFT stores, each less than two miles from my house. So when they had their 40% off everything sale, I took advantage.

Frugal Fashionista Friday at White House Black Market
I have been searching high and low for a maxi dress that would look as good on me as all the adorable ones I see on my much thinner friends. When I have tried a few in the past I ended up looking frumpy and tent-like instead of breezy and sophisticated. The main thing I wanted was a cute pattern that didn’t give off a bohemian, hippie surfer vibe. So when this arrived by email in my inbox, I fell in love. But at that time it was the full price of $158 dollars. Yeah right. I can’t tell you the last time I spent that much on a single item of clothing..oh wait, yes I can…never. But I filed it away in the back of my mind.
In the meantime I did find some other summer dresses at Target that looked surprisingly cute on me for the low low price of $20 each. This one shocked me because it’s not something I would normally wear, but it really cute on…not as short or quite as cleavage revealing as on the sky-high model in the photo. It’s not something I would wear to church but for a summer date with my husband it’s perfect. Trust me when I say the prints and cut are MUCH cuter in person.
As luck would have it (yeah right) I was driving through La Centerra, our local upscale outdoor mall, and I glanced in the window at White House Black Market and spied the maxi dress shown above. I couldn’t believe my eyes, but it appeared to be hanging on the beloved SALE rack! I thought it was impossible because I had just received the email hailing its arrival a week earlier, but I stopped my car and hopped out. Sure enough, it had been discounted to $59 AND as a member of a local mom’s club in Katy I get an additional 15% discount at that location only. Score! How’s that for being a frugal fashionista? While I was in the store I also found this pretty chiffon scarf with three shades of blue for a mere $14.99 (plus my 15% discount). What you can’t see in the photo are a few sparkly sequins on it that make it right up my ally.
Have you found a cute summer dress or outfit for a steal? Tell me about it!
