How You Can Help Our Adoption from Haiti

So we are more than a year and many many thousands of dollars into the process of adopting a little girl from Haiti. I’ll share more about the financial impact of this process on us in the future but suffice it to say, adoption is expensive. As we have waited for the chance to travel to Haiti and meet the daughter we have been matched with, I’ve watched airfare prices rise sharply. Couple that with some recent unexpected expenses and I found myself looking for ways to pinch pennies and raise money.

Haiti adoption braceletsEnter the Apparent Project. This non-profit in Haiti works to employ local Haitians as artisans making all kinds of jewelry and cool stuff. Many of the artisans are extremely poor, sometimes single parents, sometimes still living in tents since the earthquake of 2010.

The Apparent Project offers a really cool fundraising program that allows people to sell their bracelets to help pay for adoptions. So I jumped on it and received my first order of 250 handmade bracelets to sell.

I am selling each bracelet for $10. Of that money, $4 will be sent back to Haiti to benefit the artisans who made them and we will keep $6 for our adoption fund. I have also calculated that I can mail one or a few bracelets anywhere in the US for $3.

Haiti bracelets adoption The bracelets are colorful paper beads on elastic. They are multi-colored but some have dominant color schemes like orange, red, yellow or black and white. I would LOVE to sell the rest of this lot of bracelets and be able to order even more. I accept cash, check or Paypal.

Please email me at sbhubbell@comcast.net with your request and mailing address.

Thank you so much for prayerfully and financially supporting our family as we seek to follow God’s call on our lives. We can’t wait to bring our daughter home.

Here’s a little video about how the bracelets are made and the people who make them.
