Houston Bloggers Love Chocolate

Who doesn’t love chocolate, right?

I have a serious weakness for chocolate, especially the kind made by family recipe and sold in little shops. My mom used to work at a family owned chocolate shop and we got spoiled.
See’s Candies is that kind of chocolatier. I first noticed them more than a decade ago during my extensive travels to California. They’ve been expanding and growing in our direction for awhile, and last month they opened two new stores in Houston, in the Baybrook and Willowbrook Malls.
One of the great benefits of belonging to a great local networking group like the Houston Blogging Chicks is the opportunity to attend PR special events. See’s Candies was kind enough to host a few of us for a VIP blogger night to celebrate their grand opening. Free chocolate? Yes please!
Upon arrival we were encouraged to try any of their myriad of chocolate covered confections. I jumped right on the Milk Butterchew, which is basically a milk chocolate covered vanilla caramel. Always my favorite.
After trying a few others, Natalie told us a bit about the history of See’s Candies, and how they ship them freshly made.
Then we had a fun little contest to see who could pack a half pound box of chocolates the fastest. I did not win, but I DID get to keep my box. Delicious!

Mike Tremoulet was super speedy at packing his box of candy. He and his wife, my friend Christine, have been on a strict paleo diet for awhile. They made an exception for See’s.

I was so glad my friend Kathy, who has an awesome new crafting blog, was able to join us. Her box is a bit of a mess. But still yummy!
See’s also sent us home with gift bags filled with a ton more candy. I downed my half pound box in no time but reluctantly gifted the box of truffles to my son’s Kindergarten teacher for her birthday. She was nine months pregnant so I figured she could use some good chocolate. See’s even gave us some sugar-free chocolate bars that my diabetic husband gladly ate.
So thank you See’s Candies for a sweet evening. Head to a See’s store at the Willowbrook or Baybrook Malls and pick up a few boxes for hostess gifts to bring to Thanksgiving dinner, various Christmas parties, or as teacher gifts.
