10 Personal Questions About Running

My 5k training group, KatyFit.

Ok I’m totally stealing this from one of my fave running blogs, Shut Up + Run. She’s been running way longer than I, so her answers are far more interesting, but none the less I am answering them.

Best run ever?
I’ve only done two races so far! As far as those go, last year’s Run 4 the Children was great. Otherwise…I’ve had some good runs around Bethany Beach, DE, especially the one with my sister this year where we saw the sunrise over the ocean. Sunrise runs in general are my favorites.

Three words that describe your running?
Slow, slower and slowest. And maybe determined.

Your go-to running outfit?
I am a running skirt convert. My friend Ellie told me that was half the secret, the cute running skirt. Little did I realize how functional it was too! The key was learning to put bodyglide or deodorant on my thighs to prevent chafing. So a running skirt and loose fitting running shirt with my Katy Fit Headsweats visor.

Quirky habit while running?
Let’s just say that I’ve had two kids and running 10 miles with no bathrooms is not fun.

Morning, midday, evening?
Morning if I can help it. Midday sometimes but it’s usually way too hot. Evening runs are tough, I always feel more sluggish.

I won’t run outside when it’s ____________
Thunder and lightning. That’s about it.

Worst injury—and how you got over it.
The worst was my broken foot last year. Took a long time to be able to run again. Joined a 5k program for good coaching to help me train properly after that.

I felt most like a badass mother runner when _________

I run three miles as a recovery run like it’s nothing.

Next race is __________
Just Run for a Just Cause 10k on September 22nd. Benefiting Kingsland’s justice ministry to end human trafficking, something I’m very passionate about.

Potential running goal for 2013?

My second half marathon in January, and then I’d like to shave significant time off my Run 4 the Children in March.
